I have a small unoccupied 800 sq ft older house (1950's) that needs a window replaced (dry rotted frame) and drywall work including new ceilings in the kitchen and living room.

It is possible the trap has dried out and you are smelling sewer gas. 

Keep your head down and powder dry.

@J Scott  PG is different than a unsecured Prom note... the unsecured prom note is cut and dry... always get one of those then the PG is not necessary.. and in FLA of course get the wife's sig on it as well.. you know those asset protection states.. !!!!

Understand, but if you can not make the numbers work like this it is not a good deal and keep your power dry until a good deal comes along. 

We'll see if they dry up..!?
