Few of them go for Section 8 and some prefer regular tenants.You have to get certificate of occupancy and renewals for landlord to comply with city regulations.Based on the quality of finish and pars of Inkster; the rents can be varying.

I think allot has to do with the fact Expedia owns VRBO and HomeAway and realized too late that STR market is taking market share from their hotel customer clients on their Expedia platform.

On the low end in California I see custom houses get built for $250/SF + land acquisition costs - on the higher end I've seen easily over $1,000/SF.Easiest way to build would be to find a partially developed piece of land off an existing tract where roads, utilities, and zoning wont be an issue and you wont have to go through lengthy entitlement processes.
