Any complaints about VRBO's website from your guests?
Those of you who list your STRs on VRBO: Do you hear complaints from your guests about the website, specifically about the payments page? Or maybe it's only screwed up for me.
We are taking 2 beach trips this year, one in May & one in September. The first is completely paid for, the second just has a deposit paid. Both deposits were paid through VRBO, but to pay the balance on the first house I had to call the management company because there is no link to pay on the website.
The "Payments" page is not at all correct, and doesn't even show the payments I've made. Here is a screenshot of the first:
This is paid in full, but nowhere does it indicate that I've paid anything at all.
Here is the second one:
Again, no indication of what I've paid, or what my actual balance is.
According to VRBO the service fee is to, "help Vrbo provide a safer and more secure booking experience, coupled with 24/7 customer support throughout your trip."
I say if they charge me a fee for accepting my payment they sure ought to give me a record of that payment and an accurate statement of what is due and when.
Anyone else have this problem, or hear about it from your renters?

It frustrates me that it works well for others and I assume it’s because, though I have an entire house. I don’t discount whole weeks. Weekends cover my costs and then some, so I don’t. Plus, the fees they charge hosts seem more to me and I haven’t mastered the formula of pricing like I have on Airbnb. What is the markup on verbo based on Airbnb pricing? Or, how much less does one price nightly their place on Airbnb?
I price both platforms the same. Vrbo numbers are higher because I charge sales tax to the guests which I don’t have to do on AirBnB in Tennessee because they pay it for the host. Doesn’t effect my profits.
I like each platform pretty close to equally. I get more AirBnB than VRBO. I’m not going to sit with a calculator and come up with a percentage like some folks might. But I’d guess about 65-70% comes from AirBnB.
My thing is.... who cares where it came from as long as I’m booked. It’s very rare that I’ll have an empty night
