In my area, HUD reviews bids every 24 hours (during the work week) and selects the bid with the highest net to HUD (total amount going to HUD after commissions, fees, etc.) if there are multiple bids, and assuming that the highest bid meets HUD's minimum acceptable threshold.

(This is in addition to all the standard stuff you will read and/or that your broker is telling you. 80% of agents fail in their first two years, I'm sure there is a correlation between the other 20% & 70 hour work weeks early on.)

I should add to this that I live in California, and I work a 60+ hour workweek here with the goal of building capital so I don't really have the time, connections, or knowledge to look for off-market properties or remotely manage major rehabs.
