Change of scenery from the desert to the beach.

Some rural desert like Texas counties require lot size to be 20 acres to build anything, but I regularly see 5 and 10 acre lots for sale.In my area near DFW there are developments that sold lots for $50,000-$80,000 from the developer and they had great sales pitches and now you can see 100s if not 1000s of those for sale and significantly lower prices. 

Yep, my desert house gets painted with elastomeric paint every few years.

PV Mall was a great area back in it's day, but the bigger and better malls that have been built around the area (Desert Ridge, Kierland) left PV Mall in the dust, and it was on it's way toward dying on the vine.

Looking to build in baja in a desert area where water is trucked in no city lines or way to drill well.

I plan to rent BnB for as long as the market allows while maintaining a viable sale exit down the road.I'm also still deciding between stick vs. modular and am leaning towards modular for energy efficiency (title 24/desert/off grid), quick timeline (builders in the area are booked 6-12 months), and ease of oversight.  

Also Coachella Valley, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, etc.

Although Los Angeles is literarily built in a desert (and currently experiencing severe drought conditions), over the next 30 years, an increasing number of properties are at risk of flooding.

Scottsdale was runner up but I lived in a desert before and I can't handle 120 degrees!

My wife and I have been coming to the desert for over a decade and have watched the community evolve and grow - there's a real shortage of rentals that will persist for years to come.
