Has anyone painted composition shingles? I have a rental property that I’m sprucing up and the shingles look very dated but they are still there.

No. No. No. The paint to use would be elastomeric paint but it only comes in white or tan as far as I know. It is intended for flat roofs. I can almost guarantee that it will look worse than what you have now.

If the shingles look that dated they may just need replacement. Are the fiberglass granules starting to delaminate? MAybe get a roofer to give it a look.
