If its a big cast iron boiler, id consider swapping out for a couple condensing boilers with a 10:1 turn down ratio and install outdoor temperature reset.

Do they routinely change out cast iron plumbing, aluminum wiring, test for lead-based paint?

I'm thinking maybe cast iron boiler would be less expensive and simpler to maintain?

A lot of older houses used cast iron piping.
