First Single Family Home Purchase Advice

Kiarash Derakhti
Posted

Hi everyone!

I am purchasing my first property and am excited while also nervous at the same time.  The home I am looking to purhchase is in Dallas, TX originally built in 1954.  The home has been fully restored and is being sold by a wholesale flip company.  A close family member brought to my attention that the risk of buying an old home like this is having plumbing, sewage, and electrical issues because during the home inspection you cannot see these things since the plumbing is underground and the electrical is behind the walls..

All the inspector will do is check the pressure for the plumbing pipes.  To give more context I am not great at handyman...  Could anyone give me advice on how I can do my due diligence in finding out when (if at all) was the plumbing and electrical work last done and how to be preventative of this?  Thank you in advance.
