I've also heard the Podcasts are pretty stellar (well... it helps that I co-host with Joshua Dorkin) Definitely have a listen and dont' mind our rambling and "ums" :) I'd definitely recommend (if you don't have it yet) the new flipping book from J Scott and BP, as it will help a lot in learning how to make REI a business, not just a J.O.B.

Access to county records is free and most areas have free internet access to these records. www.realtor.com(basically a type of limited MLS access) is also free, although if properties aren't yet listed, they may not show up there.
