Can this be done? Without any physical meetings-just buy/sell like trading stocks and bonds? I ask because Detroit is a highly distressed market with very little volatility. If so how?

Plus, I got so tired of staring at my computer for hours a day.

My current job allows me tons of time in front of a computer to do as I please. 

It generally doesn' work for me though unless I'm on a computer

As the other poster said they can pull permits remotely from their own office computers.

In this case, you could start the "parent" LLC, and then open separate "child" series, which are private documents you can create from your computer at home even, for each individual apartment you are purchasing.

From my computer in Iraq iv been looking through tax records and getting as many comps together as i can.

Our vision is that once we reach a couple hundred units we will be moving on to commercial real estate (whether that be large apartment buildings or retail locations).Both of us are extremely motivated and decided to not pursue Computer Science and do this full time.
