But I'm curious if it is possible to sign on with a major firm under my company (instead of, or in addition to my personal) name so that I am building my own company brand from day one - before eventually going solo at some point in the future once I qualify for a firm license?

So - when you are negotiating with the seller, you can use including property management as a way to show him the market value of his property is a little less because any professional firm acquiring it would need to figure these costs in.

Were your unit my unit and your predicament my predicament this is what I would do: Step one: Call the main line for all the major firms in your area ( Century 21, Keller Williams, Coldwell Banker, Smaller Local Names).

When we self-managed our properties in NYC we did this, and a large part of selecting our property management firm here in Raleigh was their approach to building relationships with tenants and making sure that everyone was working from the same game plan - understanding that as a tenant they are responsible for keeping things clean, paying on time, etc. and as a landlord (via our property management) we'll respect that relationship by ensuring that maintenance items are taken care of ASAP, renewals for valuable tenants will be offered without question, etc.
