I'm looking to create a website that I will be using in my investing business. I'm trying to decide on a domain name that will work well in my area, which is Chicago. Of course most of the best ones have already been taken, but that leaves me with the question of do I go for a less optimized domain name, venture outside the realm of .com's and .net's or would venturing outside affect the searches?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@Richard Jeffries

For the SEO aspect of your website.  Make sure you focus on using the google webmaster tools.  The domain name doesn't really matter as long as you are adding value to the internet you will be found.  Depending on what platform your using I recommend Wordpress.  Build it to your liking and you have to focus on marketing online and offline.  This will help your SEO tremendously.  If you need any help just connect with me and I will be able to help with any questions or concerns with regards to Web Development and SEO.

Best Regards,

Ricardo Charles
