My oldest is graduating HS this year and as for now is planning to go to Boise State, so my plan for us is to just buy a house there and have her get some roommates to have them pay rent to cover the cost and get her some experience being a landlord in a way, mainly though since we would have to pay the housing cost anyway we would rather have it be ours to basically "save" the cost of housing.

Sounds very fishy to me...States one of his roommates is 85 and on a wait list for assisted living that could take 3 years also he wants to retire and move south but hasn't made the decision yet 

I would much rather not have to rent to roommates, but I want to keep my applicant pool larger.

Very possible with a SFH and roommates or a MF.

Set for life on audible (been in the FI space for a year) --> bigger pockets money --> bigger pockets...finally came around after my roommate told me about it, but FI is my goal so I'm grateful you (Mindy and Scott) have brought me into this world.

I know it will be harder looking for tenants/roommates and the management will be different.

Current roommate will be paying the entire mortgage for the current house, while my name is still on the title and mortgage.

Also, be aware that a traditional tenancy can differ from that of a boarder i.e. a roommate.

I was able to bring my prior roommate with me (friends from college) and am cash flowing $800 before repairs and maintenance on the old spot!
