An online crime investigation + visiting the local PD may help either clear up the concern or shed light on a potential issue. 

I'm not sure if the prices in 29 Palms have exploded like they did in JT, but it looked promising to me and worth further investigating. 

I guess I just have so much more to learn and investigate that I can't say at this stage.

Since it resulted in a person being shot I believe police should had done a complete investigation in interviewing multiple witnesses, ballistic projectile travel, etc.

But of course, if that is the case, then there would appear to be ample opportunity for that landlord without involving you - but you never know until you investigate a bit. 

I have heard there are kits for testing houses now but I have never investigated if they work or their cost.

I'm going to investigate TD.

Other than real estate, I am currently trying to get into the airforce, with my career field ultimately being special investigations.

I will give you my thought on this subject only.If you are going to pay someone to mentor you in the fine art of investing, make sure they have a history of success, TALK IS CHEAP, investigate, look at their portfolio, research their background, get proof that they are what they say they are, there are just too many con-artist out there that will tell you anything to get to your wallet!
