The takeaway approach of we only want people who are committed etc, and having you act like you are applying,...it's a sales tactic truth is he will take anyone that will pay..from personal experience if you express interest they will start bending over backwards to try to get you in- I negotiated I didn't want to pay 5k for a course and then pay 200 or 300 bucks/whatever it was to be part of their forum every month after that.

I would not give TMI to the contractor(s) just get that old estimate mostly for the simple truthful fact, that contractor is very likely going to be the one that bores a new line to your house (with or with out the sellers help) If there was never an estimate?
