I am out of state so it's tough to do something like that unless I fly in or something.

If this was his first time trying to push a nonconforming curb cut through DOT, he may have expected it to be as easy to respond to DOT comments as it is with most City jurisdictions (very easy, if you have calculations and Code to prove adequacy).

@Brady Parmentier, you need to tell people what state you're in because how property taxes work differ quite a bit from area to area.

I managed the properties myself, and was offered a job out of state that required long-term international travel. 

I deal out of the Oklahoma area and I will certainly say there's plenty of opportunities here for a relatively low risk/price as compared to other major metropolitan cities.

Run your comps, check leases, and proof of rent, and make sure to thoroughly analyze the inspection report and walkthrough video if this is out of state. 

Additionally, any tips for out-of-state investors would be invaluable.Thank you in advance for your help!
