There is value in the name, the brand, the relationships, the management team, the business plan, etc, that makes the company much more appealing than just a bunch of land and buildings.But again, that's only if a company is built correctly...

I want to add this:The big national name brand franchises that do tons of advertising nationwide might be worth investing in the name.However, your run of the mill franchise charges a lot of money for not much in return, and it is often very easy and more profitable to use their idea, start your own business without them, and pay for your own advertising.

I bought a Defiant brand 5 pin deadbolt (keyed on one side) at HD for $10, but I was just researching online and it was recommended only to use 6 or 7 pin locks because 5 pins can be picked, so I'll probably be returning it.I've looked at the Landlord locks website.

Bad thermostat costs a couple of bucks, remove one screw, change the sensor, and replace the screw.It's possible that the only thing wrong with your stove is that the tenant wanted a brand new one.
