I have a good amount of skills that put me in a very unique position, which I want to start to leverage, to work toward my goal of leaving the utility company, working for myself, doing something I absolutely love.  

.• After that I worked for three years as a management consultant at McKinsey where I sharpened my business acumen, problem-solving, storytelling, and presentation skills.

But it takes WILL, and not just skill, to find the full benefits of REI.

Likewise - what skills & value the other person brings to your partnership?  

You can do both usually you want someone that can lead a team and convert the lead and sell if they need too and most people with that skill set are currently working.

There are online communities and local groups where you might find like-minded people facing similar challenges.Exploring additional income streams that align with your skills and interests could also be beneficial.

It is an opportunity to be educated further and/or to evaluate their intelligence, objectivity, skills, patience and willingness to serve.

So now that it is empty, I have been doing as much work as I can myself, such as painting all the walls, replacing damaged bricks, drywall repairs, AC duct repairs, plumbing repairs, and simple electrical stuff to save money, but do not feel like I have the woodworking skills needed to install cabinets or siding and have it come out looking professional and clean.

Your plan sounds great, especially with your combined contracting skills.
