The landlord is pissed and although he was present when we put the couch in, and the couch never moved from its spot until I moved out, he wanted to know why I didn't put pads under it...had I known the floor could get damaged from it I would have but the thought never occurred to me, or him either apparently.

I know it has a cool vibe and has become a bit of a destination in recent years, but I'd be more likely to consider something like that as a hybrid investment/summer vacation spot than as a full-time investment.Are you looking to buy and hold?

If that's the case I'd get a cheap pack of shims and just shim the lower one so the counter top doesn't have a bouncy spot
