I can tell you my investor friendly realtor who I met up w/last week mentioned said she is doing a lot of buying for clients in Leander, north of Cedar Park adjacent to I-183 where homes are still relatively affordable.  

I am not a fan of condo investing either as the association manages the maintenance on the property and you can at any time get hit with a special assessment.The type of neighborhoods i would look in is Albany Park, Avondale, Irving Park, Portage Park, Rogers Park etc

The property is duplex, 2/1 units in the North Park neighborhood San Diego, CA.  

@Alfie Park  I think your home is way too pricey to make it a rental property.

Both units are 2/1 with a single parking spot.$1,300 doesn't exist here.
