I have never purchased a home before but in the town I would potentially move to renting makes little sense do to the cost of housing prices.

Look into property management companies in the area to see if their services align with your needs.Remember, patience and due diligence are crucial in real estate investing.

Multiple, billion dollar companies are investing heavy in our area, such as Intel, Google, and Amazon.

@Kinnari Pandya  I look to invest in the fastest growing areas, wher epeople are moving TO, where construction is booming, rising tide raises all ships, etc. 

@Jody Delp  They would be an authorized occupant but the issue would be you could wind up with them staying and the good tenant moving out. 

We (me, my wife, and our small child) are currently living in an apartment, so moving into a duplex wouldn't be much of a change for us.

Our company is growing 10-15% a year with out of state and country investors.
