The one I managed to win paying big premium, had massive issues with inspection and had to back out given the cost math didn't work out.

@Joshua McMillionYes, PMI is required on any Conventional loan when the LTV is higher than 80% (less than 20% equity).PMI can be borrower-paid monthly (that's what most people know about).There is also an option for single premium (paid in 1 lump sum upfront, instead of monthly).Also the PMI can be lender-paid by increasing the interest rate and the lender can pay for it using a single premium instead of the borrower paying it.
