I have been an assistant property manager for two of the largest property management companies in my area.

Renting is easier, cheaper and much more flexible until you tie yourself down  a good job and have a family.As a landlord I don't mind that the now largest generation would rather rent than own however on a political and regulatory basis it could increase scrutiny of landlord's and tighten regs on landlord/tenant law. 

I'm not an expert in this area, but my initial thought is Land Contract / Contract for Deed / Lease Option.
