Aloha everyone,

I am a 28 year old air traffic controller in Hawaii and real estate has always interested me. First timer on this site and am very impressed by the wealth of knowledge on here. I am mainly interested in rental properties to try and make an extra income and am eager to learn all I can before jumping in.  I am excited and nervous at the same time but after reading many forums already I think this site will help put me on the right track!

Hawaii's a great market. I flip there routinely, though I don't view it as a market for those seeking cash flow. That doesn't mean those opportunities aren't out there, but you really need to dig around to find them. As others have mentioned, the biggest impediment to doing deals in Hawaii is usually the financing. If you can get that squared away, then the bigger prices can often mean bigger paychecks.
