Remember not every property manager is ethical and fair, but being a NARPM member we are held to a different standard.  

I would check to see how many sales have occurred in that area in the last six months prices they sold for avg rent etc all properties need a landlord and kind u said it's a great way to get your foot in the door . one advice find a local handy man doesn't matter if he is a crack head he will do the work and do ur right at a fair price is ask that matters.

I am fairly confident on the construction side of things, but want to better understand the market to make sure I am buying and doing the reno appropriately.

I have a fairly flexible daytime schedule and accommodate various times and schedules.

My landlord is interested in selling the property, and the prospective buyer wants to raise the rent to $1000 (which is fair market value), and my current landlord wants to know if I would agree to the rent-raise for the remainder of the lease, in order for the sale to complete.My landlord is concerned that the sale will not close if I don't agree to the rent raise; however, in the interest of fairness - I did sign the lease with the legitimate expectation of paying $800 per month for 6 months.

But I'm considering moving into one of the units.Is this a good deal or should I look further for a better bargain?

What options do we have and how can we handle this situation without breaking any fair housing laws?
