I've had it happen to me, I usually temper it by call back and immediately saying " Hi, I missed your call today, and would like eleven seconds of your time to find out how i can make it up to you ..." then listen. 70% of the time i can calm them down.

I know everyone goes through this so just trying to stay calm and take on as little water as possible!
