I'd prefer large complexes but I have a young family and a golf habit that sucks up a lot of free cash that could be saved for a purchase like that.So, I found a 1950s ranch on slab in Colerain Twp (the Northbrook Area for those familiar) that I was able to purchase for $23,500 at auction and was pleased to find a new roof, newer kitchen, new mechanicals, newer bathroom, etc. when I inspected the house.  

But a good example of change is Lincoln Blvd...and even the Lincoln golf course clubhouse...wow! 

On a personal note, I'm big into golf and being outdoors as much as possible - although that's hard to do this time of year in SA!

I also started to volunteer on a 7-9 year old little league team which I am very excited about and got to play golf twice.

More and more people are discovering that they can stay in a vacation home with a private heated pool/spa, game room, themed bedrooms, full modern kitchens, movie theaters, etc. for a cost often a good bit less than staying in a hotel especially when you take into account the cost of food, laundry, parking, etc.Regarding your statement about tourists staying in Davenport are more apt to be focused on golf and less on Disney than in Kissimmee - I don't think so.
