Hi,I want to know how & what to look for in a contractor to convert a SFH into a triplex? 

We plan to move from this house in 2021 and will convert the house into a rental and add it to our portfolio.Hire an accountant who is also involved in real estate to help us with our taxes and make sure we are structuring our financial lives in the most efficient manner as we get into real estate investing.     

Is it even code in your area to convert a basement to a second dwelling unit? 

If you pitch a bunch of their crap they can file a complaint that you "stole" or converted their good stuff (which would be refused by Goodwill) and you may wind up paying for it.
