I have not yet seen an owner occupant purchase a decontaminated house, much less a family with children.  

Look around those who surround you and get inspiration from those who have achieved what you desire.

Hi @Wilhelm Nothnagel As someone who lives in SF, is an out of state RE investor, and has two kids in SFUSD public schools, here are a couple of thoughts from my perspective:1) If you choose to live in SF, you can find a good public school, especially an elementary school, if you don't just look for the "top-rated" schools but get out, go on school tours, and talk to parents who send their children to those schools.

I was inspired by reading a long thread from @Sam Alpha where he was trying to buy from owner prior to foreclosure.This is a nice home in a great school district near where I live.

My goal is to slowly accrue a few properties, which I can eventually hand over to my children.
