HI there, @Mary Tross, the good news is that if you have a deal that is truly a deal, even if the foreign buyer doesn't pan out you'll have options (because deals are the limited inventory in the world right now, not buyers)In terms of verifying their legitimacy . . . that is a bit tough.

I'm looking to purchase my first rental property near Harrisburg, PA, sounds exciting, but I would love some guidance.The good news are:The interest rate is an all-time low; I can get pre-approval between 2.25-2.50% (15/30yrs loan)The property I'm looking at being on the market since late June with only 2 offers.I ran the number.

The good news for us is that because of our knowledge of the market, and also having the comps in our property management company to look it, it allowed us to pounce on some properties that other buyers seemed to be a little hesitant on because of those bad metrics.

Great news for Bay Area home owners and investors alike to get a little more bang for their buck before moving to a jumbo loan. 

I agree with most people here that if you have the capital to buy, you have much better avenues to deploy it.The best news is you are starting to run the numbers and ask questions of people who have more experience and I've found the Bigger pockets community a great place to pick up the info you don't know.
