I had a fire last year and was lucky to have taken a second with my credit union as the first mortgage with a bank wanted to sign over the insurance check to the main contractor who was ultimately only doing 40% of the work and I was having the rest done by my contractor's or choice or myself.

All of the information was excellent, will be starting on the list as soon as I am out of work. 

A good site to use if you want to do your own is redfin.com When you run a search, filter the criteria and on the right side of the page it will list all the properties that match that, at the bottom of that list is an option to "download all" and you can export the file to a excel document and run a comp analysis

My advice to you, is to find your niche, and to master and excel at it.

PNC secured card is excellent start, put $250 - $500 on and DONT use the card. in 3 - 6 months apply for cap 1 card.additionally figure out if you belong to any credit union, they will accept a letter of explanation in regards to the BK and give a lot more credit than the big banks / card companies.With the knowledge i have from working at a large bank I have helped a couple family and friends go from a bk to a very high 700 score in two years so if you have any other questions pm me.I am not claiming to be an expert but have gone through this twice with people very close to me and they are both in incredible credit standings now.Regards,rob
