Hello all,As mentioned in my profile, I have self managed a few properties for over 2 decades, but am looking to expand my portfolio in an accelerated fashion, in the short term future.

And to get that much depth and understanding of the tax code and other stuff takes years, even decades to glean, craft, shape and deliver in a somewhat interesting way.

A lot of the properties in Allegheny County haven't sold in decades so a lot of times they are assessed at what they sold for last.One of those taxing bodies has to appeal the tax assessment to get the property taxes raised, abesnt of a whole county wide re assessment on every property. 

I have lived here for two decades, and invested here for most of that time.

The properties in question are in a hard hit area, that everyone says will gentrify, but it never does after two decades of people saying that.

Assuming it takes about a decade to payoff, the appreciation should cause the the value to increase significantly.

It's a big and important decision, probably for a decade or more, so it's worth to put some effort into it, just like finding a good contractor - takes effort. 

I have been doing it for almost a decade now and I haven't looked back. 

Be careful with being the first one to invest in a area, it may be a decade before anything around you changes.
