We discussed that this would be a long term investment and I assumed I'd be in it for the long haul but recently had a conversation with my partner telling me that he wants to be the sole owner because there isn't enough room for both of us - which is correct.  

Be fair, firm, friendly, and flexible for the good of all.

Our property management firm ran about 4% for the non-harvest season last year.  

If you don't have the reserves then find a firm where you can be salaried (Redfin comes to mind).   

My brother-in-law (owns his own CPA firm) says that people can't go wrong with a degree in finance. 

You can never know enough, and the more research you do, the more likely you are to discover any issues BEFORE you start a business partnership– Get professional advice on how to set up a partnership agreementIt might be more expensive to have a professional and well established law firm help you with your Partnership agreement, but it will save you time and money down the road in the case of any disagreements.

One of my clients came from a foreign land... but he was educated  hired on at a top firm to do CPA work his wife as well they were classic DINK'S... but saved and saved and starting buying rentals for cash in the down market .. and learned it form the ground up..

I have met many on BP who are doing well also... but I firmly believe these folks would do well in any business they choose to enter. 

This felt high but my partner is associated with the firm and felt doing business with them would be beneficial.

He was angry at me because it was an over the phone hearing and no one told me I had to use a land line, so he told me to shut up and awarded the law firm that sued me not only the $7000 balance I couldn't prove I already paid, but 5.5 years of interest, all the legal fees, plus interest until it's paid.
