It's a great community here and I'm sure others will tell you, the amount of information you can pick up here for FREE is fantastic. 

If the employer does not offer a match then I would stay away from their investment plan and I would not invest any more in the employer plan than the maximum employer match unless it is a fantastic plan.

There is enough business for everyone and it is fantastic to have so many options. 

We bought a triplex in Orange in 2010 (around the bottom of the market), and we make an ok return, nothing fantastic, just ok. 

I agree if I was experiencing fantastic performance, I would get on an acquisition schedule like you mentioned.
