Hello BP family,My wife and I had a contractor come out to do our air duct cleaning.

Almost all (if not all) air conditioning in Houston is electric.  

I don't mind the short term renters too much, as long as I can get their lease ending close to a time that is good for me (either that August/September time frame or spring/summer).

As others have pointed out, selecting carpet and a thick padding, or adding insulation, or additional sheetrock, will help do this.To address the vibration through the structure, you need to provide an isolation layer, which can be a floating floor on isolators or a dedicated acoustic ceiling hanging from springs (these can be complicated and expensive).I've been involved with a few projects in NYC where we added an isolation layer, but these were for noisy workout studios below and above apartments, NOT for stacked or adjacent apartments.
