They are similar to other ski resorts where they try hosting summer events like little concerts and a beer fest, weddings, etc., and have tried to expand their outdoor summer activities (like a mountain coaster/and possibly zip line by now)  and like any other mountain, trails/hiking/biking are summer activities, but there isn't much else. 

Ashley who hosts the rookie podcast constantly harped on getting to meetups and using this trick to make it easier: find somebody here on BP, on the meetup page, the Facebook page, wherever this group has a social presence and "befriend" them before you go.

I think the most important thing to realize is that Airbnb and VRBO are specifically built to be vacation rental platforms and because of that they have special features such as they let hosts ask questions of guests & cancel reservations penalty free if the guest Seems sketchy or isn’t providing the necessary information that you’re requesting before their staybooking.com and TripAdvisor are not tailored to vacation rentals.
