A transition study would be done once all the units are sold and they could also come back at you for repairs, or age of life issues or request you carry additional monies due to the age etc.

I've had clients who have bought single family homes and rented rooms to friends, and as they became more established in their careers they decided to keep the home for themselves without roommates, which made for a very easy and smooth transition, similar to yours of growing out of your househack multifamily.

Fortunately I had learned just enough before I purchased this house that It will rent with a cash flow of over 300/mo even though that was not the intention when I purchased it.Over the next few years, I plan to purchase at a minimum of 1 property a year as I build my portfolio and plan to transition into large multifamilies after I gain more experience.
