Technically a house hack is more along the lines of living in a rental property with other people, whether it be roommates or tenants in an attached unit and having them cover most or all expenses.

Of the 3 I haven't heard from, 1 has a roommate who already paid and typically pays towards the 5th, they other 2 I am expecting payments from on or before the 5th as well- one I know is able to work from home, the other couple both work for Universities so are still getting paid.The ones I was most worried about (students and those who I know are not working) have paid.

First, I held the property because I think its a good asset and i would lose money on the sales fees if I were to offload it right now, not the best position to be but since I bought at the low of the market I was taking a buy and hold strategy and since I had a roommate in my current house I was able to afford both payments reasonably comfortably.

For example, as a renter, could I tell the landlord to add a contingency in the lease that allows me to break the lease with 30-day notice if the room is too loud, if the roommates and I are not compatible with each other, or of any other reason?
