Interested in Investing in Real Estate at 22 y/o. Is it too soon?

Hello all,

I am very new to Real Estate but the idea of investing and owning to rent/ fix & flip is very intriguing to me. I am a current student athlete in college in West Palm, and my background and nature makes me very interested in investing and even potentially being an Agent. I am curious as to when most of you think “it is the right time” to invest. And in regards to a loan, what should you look for? Yes, I am very new. But all help is appreciated! I look forward to growing my network in any way possible. Best wishes!

Hey @Shawn O'Gorman! I don't think there is such thing as too early to invest! I think what happens is people invest without the proper understanding of fundamental investing principles! Also people invest without being sufficiently capitalized (which is a fundamental investing principle). I think rather than worrying about an appropriate age, you should focus on learning sound investment principles. For example how to analyze a market/ properties, how to recognize a potential deal, how to forecast future performance, leverage and how to safely use it, how to calculate key performance metrics etc!

Once you have a grasp of these concepts and principles you will be able to make sound investing decisions. So it really doesn't matter how old you are to understand these things but it is important that you build a strong foundation! You are already ahead of many in that you are thinking about investing now!
