I think this is one of the areas BP is good for when it is a legit Q from someone who is actually trying to learn (vs someone trying to vette some idea from a guru) You have asked the questions that hundreds of others didn't have the guts to ask but will benefit from reading.

If they were only paying a few hundred a month to live somewhere decent, I'd say it's still a win.Our 'mother-in-law' apt at my house brings in about $800/mo.  

I could see mid western realtors who ran this add listing pretty much every C class home that came up and ending up owning hundreds of them...

The kitchen has standard cabinets but does have granite counters.

It would be very hard to find a home that wasn´t within a hundred yards of another home that filed a sink hole claim.
