I would absolutely find a more local mortgage broker/lender that is familiar with SC real estate practices and has a network of other professionals to aide them.

After a long debate with myself today as to how to contact the owner, I decided to call him at his business (Which is not real estate) which was yielded pretty quick from a google search of his name. 

I'm contemplating taking the Directv received out of the unit and replacing it with a Roku/AppleTV/Google Chrome, etc. to offer streaming services, or maybe a DVD player with access to those streaming services. 

Even though I knew they had branches here locally, I didn't know they did the VA P&R loan until I googled like crazy after reading about it in the VA Lenders Handbook.  

Pull up another window and google some real estate companies.

It might very well show up if I go down to the county recorder's office in person, however, but it's no longer out there for the entire real estate community to see like it was when the owner was in default (I can't help but imagine this is not a coincidence...).But normal 2nd mortgages, liens, sale/transfer records recent enough to be in the digital era, refinances, etc, do generally show up with a high degree of accuracy.Specific to property taxes, you can just pull the property tax bill by google searching "CountyName property taxes."

Google and read, or even buy one of the many e books on Amazon that tackle the task.Good luck!
