If you catch the deposit into your account you can send the tenant a check for the same amount as the deposit via certified letter along with a letter stating you are not accepting his deposit.

Cheryl Naegel speak with a lawyer in your jurisdiction but if you have a adjustment against the tenant and know their bank info, take it to their bank or have your lawyer send a letter to their bank and the bank will freeze their account immediately .
