@Jeremy Buttell  cities have multiple ways to enforce liens.. they can lien you put a lien on title that's the most common.. and fines just keep accruing interest and penalties.. if its bad enough they can literally bull doze your house..

Lenders generally require personal/credit information about members with at least 20-25% equity in the borrowing entity, but I'm unsure if a conventional bank would be willing to go through the effort and headache of trying to enforce five guarantees, especially if the loan is small; the bank may require one or two of you to take on that responsibility.

Brian's theft claim might have been nipped in the bud at the police investigation level, it's good to know law enforcement where you can vigorously state the facts and defend claims as they can squeeze the one making a complaint as to making false complaints, may not be so much the case with Brian's example as it sounds like an attorney was in cahoots as well, filing the next day.
