So I saw a printed sign that looked pretty slick from an LLC that "buys ugly houses" (and in hindsight it wasn't really that ugly of a house, just needed cosmetic repairs), and their guy did a walk-thru and was willing to make me an offer that gave me about $2k of the $12k or so equity I "thought" I had built up in the house (although prices had been dropping).
