I agree that these standards can cause rentals to seem nicer than other owner-occupied homes, however I believe that the standards aren't unreasonably high and that it's our duty as landlords to ensure that properties are kept in good condition, both in terms of safety and aesthetics, for our tenants and also the community.

For certain units, we may turn off the breaker for water heater, and usually, just for safety, also turn off the range breaker (so it is not left "on" by someone during a showing).
