Rental ordinances from cities

Anybody have any experience fighting a cities rental property ordinance? Seems very discriminatory and unconstitutional to me. Homeowners don’t have to conform to the laws like landlords do

You can attend public meetings and complain. You can network with other Landlords and get them to complain. Petition your government leaders and try to convince them to change the law. But it's unlikely to happen.

Why do they inspect rentals? They want to ensure you are providing a good "product" to the customer. They want to prevent slumlords from screwing tenants over. They want to prevent Landlords from renting basements with no windows, houses with no smoke detectors, etc. It's the same reason they inspect restaurants and hospitals to ensure they are clean and safe.
