I agree with just about everyone above that the price should be either discussed upfront or in the engagement letter before services began.It's different to know how much they saved you because tax preparation typically isn't a service to save you taxes, you'll want to meet with them during the year for this.

I would aim for long amortization and a balloon payment of at least 5 years so you have time to get your finances in place.I don't know if you own a house, but you could use a HELOC to cash out the sellers.

I didn't owe anything, but I had sold my car to someone who racked up several thousand in parking fines and then promptly disappeared so they tried to flip the charges back on me as I was the only one left with money to collect.I called an attorney who sent them a cease and desist letter along with a warning that they would be liable for substantial damages if they ever contacted me again (and we would sue if they did).
