Up until the early to mid 90's a small amount of asbestos could be used in the manufacturing of certain goods.As for whether or not you should do asbestos abatement on the property will depend on whether it is friable or non-friable like @Brian Ellis said earlier.

For service reasons, you need at least 18”-24” from the house per manufacturers install instructions.I don’t know what the local codes are in your area, but I would move the unit close to the house, increase the size of the cage, and attach the cage to the house.
