Being in the tech space, and trying to read the writing on the wall, I firmly believe there are BIG changes coming to the RE business in the next five years. 

This particular deal is a little different from your normal investment as it's intent is to be rented until my family and I are ready to fill it's walls with our own photos and it's floors with my son's never ending accumulation of toys.

Assuming the latter, a general rule of thumb is that if you are load bearing walls and pillars may not be touched.

I was having problems mitigating a roach problem in adjacent unit, and the reason i finally realized her less than desirable living habits were creating a roach breeding mega heaven, and incidentally discovered the above mentioned stuff...any small crack or hole in by an electrical outlet plate, had the most vile and gross path of roach feces, full on super highway paths of roach feces into any possible wall void.YUCK!!!
