If in Canada, check out the CMHC (CMHC.ca) website as a jump-off point.

You can use sites like Zillow or Trulia or even your local government website (if they have one) to show recent sales in the area.

The website has opened my mind to a whole new world of creative finance in real estate as well as how to build leads to purchase property directly from sellers and avoid the MLS.  

I've used a couple of online websites that make the information available for a fee but they allow you to search by property address.

Check out the CCIM designation and see if it looks interesting to you.

The beginner class once a month is a nice overview, although for some reason their website* has conflicting dates this month.

I am just getting started on this website, and looking into the many opportunities it apparently offers.

Everything I see checks out okay except for their willingness to put their operating agreement and subscription agree on their website.
